HOW DO I DECIDE IF I NEED AN INVESTIGATION (OR JUST A CLEANSING:
A. I think I'm experiencing a haunting. What should I do?
If you believe you are experiencing a paranormal event, please take detailed notes of all occurrences (include time, location, weather conditions, etc.). Hopefully this will help you see any patterns in the occurrences. These notes will also be invaluable to any team you allow to investigate. Take the time to also consider any previous paranormal experiences you've had even if you believe they aren't relevant to what's happening now. Sometimes doing this will help you to get a clearer picture and determine if there are any patterns. Here are examples of the details you'll want to track:
Date and time;
What room did it happen in;
Brief description of the incident;
Who witnessed the event;
List all the people who were in the house; and,
Briefly describe what the family was doing right before the activity happened.
Always try to find a reasonable explanation for what's happening ("not everything is paranormal), but if you can't find an explanation then you might want to contact a paranormal investigation team to come to you home or business to investigation and hopefully find evidence to document your claims.
B. What can I expect during a s4p Paranormal Investigations & Resolutions investigation?
The Team Leader and another member of the team will sit down with you and go over the claims of activity. If you agree to allow us into your home or business, a baseline sweep of the location will be taken using assorted equipment, and a date and time will be scheduled for the team to come back to perform the investigation. In order to avoid contamination of evidence, most investigations will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will last approximately six hours. Also in the interest of avoiding contamination of evidence, we request the homeowner make arrangements to be away from their property and all family pets need to be temporarily removed from the property during the investigation.
Prior to the investigation we will research the property and the surrounding area, looking at both geological and historical information.
During the investigation we use a variety of tools, including but not limited to: infrared video cameras, infrared cameras, full spectrum cameras, digital voice recorders, EMF meters, S-B7 Spirit Box (TM), REM Pods, motion detectors, shadow detectors, laser grid pattern generators, and temperature sensors.
Upon completion of the investigation we analyze all the data several times. We always look for a natural explanation to any occurrence prior to labeling anything paranormal, and will compare any unusual findings to the baseline data we gathered during the first visit.
We have a final review with the client to share and review any evidence captured. This will be done via email of files, a CD mailed to the client, or an in-person meeting with the client, depending on the amount of evidence captured and/or the client's preference. The final client meeting is normally scheduled 14-21 days after the investigation but may take longer depending on the amount of evidence to review.
If required, we will perform a free cleansing of the property to remove any harmful entities.
C. What can I expect during a s4p Cleansing only?
s4p Paranormal Investigations & Resolutions offers cleansings and attachment removals by trained and qualified team members. under the guidance of Renee, Spiritual Medium. If an investigation performed by the s4p Paranormal Investigations & Resolutions team determines a cleansing is required there's no fee for the first cleansing.
If a client only wants a cleansing performed at their location we offer the first cleansing for the low price of $100. If the location is more than twenty-five miles from Murfreesboro, TN, we charge $0.535 per mile for travel reimbursement.
After the cleansing, we sit down with the client and explain what entities were at the location and what we did to remove them. Then we give the client a very detailed explanation on how or why the entity chose their location and what the client needs to do to ensure nothing else paranormal is invited into their location.
The fee for repeat cleansings is $150 per the first repeat cleansing, $250 for the second repeat cleansing, and $350 for the third repeat cleansing. We'd prefer to never charge anyone for any of our services, but we've been taken advantage of in the past and it is not our responsibility to provide free monthly repeat cleansings. (If multiple cleansings are required, we suggest the client examine what is taking place within their home that continually allows entities in.)
D. How do I decide if I need an Investigation or a Cleansing?
Some clients have been experiencing severe paranormal activity in their home or place of business for years and they do not need proof: They simply want the activity to stop.
s4p in Tennessee provides the first cleansing free if it's part of an investigation. The investigation process can take several weeks from start to finish. So, if you want documented proof of the paranormal activity and you're willing to wait, choose this option.
E. Reasons why you should not bring in a team:
Do not bring in a team if:
You want to see a team in action (that is no good reason to take people's time, expense and effort).
You are hoping your home might end up on a TV show. Believe me, your home is no more a celebrity than you are. Give up the notion that somehow somewhere someone is going to want to showcase your home.
You are hoping to join a team and thought this was a good way to show them your knowledge and get a conversation going. Once again, do not waste people's time, expense and effort.
You have a suspicion that someone in the home might have reason to want the place haunted, such as someone with mental or psychiatric issues, pathological lying, need for attention, anxiety and the like. Seek appropriate mental health care instead. The team is not there to do therapy.
You have only had one or two incidents. This does not show a pattern. A couple times is unusual, but more than that is perhaps a pattern. Do not call until a pattern is formed.
Figure out what you really want from the team. Would you be OK if the team came back with no evidence and instead came back with logical explanations from some of your experiences? Or do you want that TV show ghost hunter experience to happen in your house and want a load of evidence even if it may be questionable? Some people do want that and if that’s what you want then I would view it more like having a psychic come do a party of yours. It’s fun, you may get something cool out of it but it’s not done for anything more than entertainment purposes.
Finally, it is also OK for the team to cancel or stop an investigation at any time if they feel like the situation is not what they thought it would be. There are people out there that need much more than what a paranormal investigation team can give them and that usually falls into the mental health category. We are providing a free service that takes up time and energy and if we don’t feel like it would be appropriate to begin or continue with an investigation that is within our, or any teams right. If that happens the best thing to do is to move on. Do not harass the team with constant phone calls or threats.
F. Reasons why you should call in a team:
You have a child that is repeatedly being affected with stories that don't sound like usual childhood anxiety of the dark or what's under the bed, especially if the child's moods and behavior are different during waking hours.
Repeated patterns of phenomenon have been occurring and several people have encountered them.
Someone has been physically harmed or emotionally unsettled to the point of hysteria.
You are finding it difficult to be alone at your business or in a part of your house.
You don't feel safe in your own home or business and want to know what is going on.
G. How to decide which paranormal investigation team I should allow into my home or business?
First, do a little Google search about the team. See what others have said, see what kind of commentary they make - do they tear down other teams, seem to have in-fighting? Don't be shy to friend team members on Facebook and check out how they handle themselves publicly. Google individual team members' names.
Keep a diary of what is going on so you can give them a time line, events, and such. Please be sure to include any recent deaths, emotional upsets, family fighting, mental issues with members of the family, people moving in and out - anything disruptive.
Call them. See what kind of personalities they have on the phone and if they would be willing to meet for a short time to discuss what you need from them. A pre-investigation interview is IMPERATIVE as this is your chance to feel them out and honestly, them to feel you out. The safety of the team is important to them and a good team would never just show up at someone’s house without knowing anything about the situation as you never know what you could be walking into.
Ask if they charge for any services. This can be a red flag.
Ask if they use psychics, sensitives, mediums and the like.
Ask if they will be reviewing any evidence with you. A thorough investigation should offer both options and not just one or the other.
Ask if they do cleansings or blessings. Ask about the credentials of the person who does that and their name. Look that person up. See what kind of business they do - are they a psychic for a living? You might be charged for a blessing should they find something wrong. Are they willing to accommodate your faith?
Ask the size of the team and that they arrive without a marked car and team t-shirts, you don't want the neighbors knowing. Let them know you and another will be present during investigation, although you are fine with being cloistered in a room so they can have free run and so that you don't corrupt the investigation.
Let them know your objectives - do you want to be rid of your issue or simply find out what kind of issue it is?
It sounds paranoid, but please take any RX medications, booze, money, jewelry and the like and lock it into a drawer they cannot get into. No matter how nice they are, they are still strangers in your home.
If you wish privacy, ask if they can sign a privacy paper so that you are assured they won't go online bragging about what is happening in your home or writing about you in their next book.
Ask for references. They should be readily available and gladly supplied. The reference should be about their professionalism and manner not evidence. Remember that just because they got evidence from a former place doesn't make it REAL evidence.
Ultimately, know what you want out of the experience. Do you want them to educate you about ghostly workings so you can just learn to live with it, should there be a haunting? Do you want them to find something so you are justified in being uncomfortable in your own home? Is there anything going on in family dynamics that makes calling in a team an upsetting thing? What would you do if they find no evidence of haunting?
It is a great unknown for the team when they enter a new client's home, but it is just as much an unknown for you just how you will feel when people work to elicit ghostly antics and document them. A good team should help you along the way.
Should you have a positive experience, do not hesitate sharing a quote they may use on their site anonymously if you wish. If they were lackluster, feel free to share that knowledge with the public. The only way that we weed out teams with a healthy agenda and attitude is by showcasing them up against the losers.
